Join us in the American Saddlebred adventure!
Providing Quality Horses, Training, and Instruction Since 1982
From beginners to the advanced competitor, everyone takes lessons! Whether you are 5 years old, or in your senior years, your training program will be customized to suit your learning style.
Lessons run half an hour to an hour at your trainer’s discretion.
Our instructors hold a variety of memberships including, the United Professional Horseman’s Association, National Coaching Certification Program, American Saddlebred Horse Association, Equine Canada, United States Equestrian Federation, Horse Council of BC, and various breeds and showing organizations. Lessons are available in Saddle Seat (English), or Show Driving.
All lessons are sold in blocks of four. Any rescheduling or makeup lessons must be done on a Friday.
There are various memberships that are recommended or mandatory for certain activities. Please refer to our annual membership requirements letter. Please refer to our tentative show schedule for up coming events. Make sure we have a copy of your current HORSE COUNCIL OF BC membership. All show lesson riders should be active members.
LESSON BASICS
Lessons are in the covered riding arena with your instructor. In order to provide all riders with their full lesson, we are unable to adjust lesson times due to lateness. We appreciate your cooperation. Parents & guest are welcome to stay and watch from outside the arena, providing they are quiet and not interrupting the lesson.
Riders who wish to help groom and tack their horse should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled lesson. Grooming and tacking is fun and optional, but not required. Also, try to show up early or stay later to work on stretching and exercising on the stationary saddles.
Closed-toed shoes are required in the barn for safety reasons. Riders need to wear long pants, and boots with a one-inch heel are preferred. Helmets are mandatory for minors and can be provided by us if needed.
Regular exercise at home is also helpful in developing the muscle tone for riding horses. A healthy lifestyle with good nutrition will also be beneficial.
CANCELATION POLICY
If you need to cancel your lesson, please call, text, or email to notify us at least 2 hours in advance. Rescheduling a make up lesson is done on Friday. If you do not contact us to cancel your lesson you will be charged for the full amount, no rescheduling.
